Bob Dawkins, President of the Bellevue (Baptist Church) Foundation led the breakout session on Church Foundations at the recent Christian Foundations Conference. He taught that about 96% of all giving is in the form of cash and only 4% is given from non-cash assets. Yet the wealth of most people in the world is in non-cash assets (91%) while their cash is only about 9%. Most churches are not set up to help people give to the Lord's work out of their largest resource of assets, their non-cash assets. So one thing churches can do is to set up a "Church Foundation" which then gives people the opportunity to give more to ministries that they care so much about. They can increase their giving by giving their non-cash assets such as real estate, personal property, stocks, bonds, insurance policy, etc. Church representatives learned how to set up a church foundation and what the advantages were for the church leadership as well as the people. |
